Since it was released in 2018, the Ordinances Ready app has made it possible for many people around the world to take their own family names to the temple and find reservations easily.
As we are gathering Israel name by name and visiting the temples closest to us, a new update has been released to make reserving ordinances simpler and more meaningful. Now Ordinances Ready will find ward and stake names for you when a closer relative cannot be found.
Ever wonder how Ordinances Ready searches for names and why you got the name you did? Here’s a look into both the new update and how Ordinances Ready uses a special priority order to show you temple names that are related to you—or as connected to you as possible.
Help People in Your Ward and Stake Using Ordinances Ready
When Ordinances Ready searches the Family Tree to find temple opportunities for you, the program tries to find the ones that are most relevant first. The newest update to the app shows people related to you first, names shared with the temple by members of your ward and stake second, and then general temple names third.
How Ordinances Ready Finds Names
The algorithm behind Ordinances Ready searches your temple reservation list, the Family Tree, and other lists to find available ordinance reservations. It prioritizes reservations in this order:
- Reservations from your My Reservations list
- Shared reservations from your family groups
- Other reservations that have been shared by you
- Your relatives whose reservations have been shared with the temple
- Your relatives on the Family Tree who have ordinance reservations available
- Reservations that people from your ward and stake have shared with the temple
- General names that have been shared with the temple from members around the world
When you are planning to go to the temple, Ordinances Ready is the easiest way to find and reserve names. It only takes a few minutes! Find Ordinances Ready on FamilySearch.org, or in your FamilySearch app, click on the temple icon to try it out.
