Malaysia is a country in South East Asia bordered by Indonesia, Brunei, Singapore, and Thailand. The federal constitutional monarchy consists of 13 states and 3 federal territories. It is separated by South China Sea into two regions, Borneo's East Malaysia and Peninsular Malaysia. It covers a total area of 330,803 km2 (127,724 sq mile). Kuala Lumpur is the national capital.
Malaysia is a multi-ethnic, multi-language, and multi-cultural country. Its population consists of the Malay, Chinese, Indians, and indigenous people. The official language is Bahasa Malaysia, while English is an active second language. Islam is the established religion, however, the constitution grants freedom of religion to non-muslims. The government is modelled on the Westminster parliamentary system, it is a federal constitutional elective monarchy. The head of the state is a King (elected monarch), whose title is Yang di-Pertuan Agong; while the head of the government is the Prime Minister.[1]
